Register a Net-Login Account
- What Is My Net-Login?
-
Your Net-Login is an email address registered with WD to allow access to secure sites.
If you have an ISU email address, then your Net-ID can be used with any Net-Login enabled site, and you do
NOT need to sign up for a Net-Login. Your Net-ID is the first portion of your Iowa State email address. For
example: if your email address is joeuser@iastate.edu, then your Net-ID is simply
joeuser.
- How Do I Register?
-
The first step is to register your email address. Next, you will get an
email with a verification link. Then, your account will be activated.
- Is This Login Secure?
-
Yes, the Net-Login form provides a secure login. After you enter your information and press the login button,
the form submits your information to the server. The server will validate your login information through
Kerberos, and then, it encrypts its own authentication information in the form of a cookie stored on your
browser. This cookie contains various authentication assurance information, but does not contain your password.
- How Are Cookies Used?
-
You must allow cookies from the
iastate.edu domain in order to use this site. The cookie will
contain your username as well as other authentication information, such as the time the ticket expires. It does
not contain your password.
